About the Band

Hello, we are Carry on Baggage.  The band is: Bobby Sturdevant, Dave Doggart, Dave Strong, Marcia Washington and Matt Cote. The Daves and Bobby are the writers of most of the music, but everyone is contributing in one way or another by either writing backing/additional parts to songs, or lyrics.  We are soon going to be searching for a new drummer due to the departure of Matt Cote for college.

Instrumentation goes as follows (for more info on members see Band Members page):
Marcia Lead Vocals
Dave S. : Bass, Back up Vocals
Dave D. : Lead Guitar
Bobby : Trombone, Lead/Back up Guitar
Matt : Percussion

The History of Carry On Baggage (in a paragraph)

The band came together when Bobby had the idea to start a ska band. The Daves thought this was a great idea and managed to convince a whole bunch of their friends to join the band. Unfortunatly do to bad coordination and communication by the time we realized how many people we had asked to join the band it was too late. At one point, there were eleven people who believed they were in the band.  as you can see, it has been cut down to the lucky eight. Then one day Dave D. came up with the idea of skio instead of ska. Although, the music doesn't seem to be one style as opposed to another.  It's simply whatever type of music we can come up with and play with our unique instrumentation.  Thus, we then began to create the band. Bobby is helping to run the band more than he used to and The Dave's are the two people obsessed with making this work and do a lot of the hard work to get it going. Anyway, that's why we are the band.

Carry-on Baggage made their premier on June 5 2005 at St. Mathew's church of Worcester performing the Jesus songs "Complete in Thee" "Seek ye first" and "Let it Be" by the Beatles.

History of the name
Carry on Baggage. Seems like a pretty random name for a band, doesn't it? That's because it is. One day Bobby came up to me and said, "I have a great idea for the name of our band." Then  I said,  "What?" Then he said "Carry on Baggage." We put it to a vote and that became the name of our band.
